Louis J. Mahr

Louis J. Mahr, 89, of Fullerton, died Dec. 6, 2015. He was the husband of Joan (Lovitz) Mahr for 63 years.

Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Louis “Jerry” Mahr and Theresa (Kloiber) Mahr Scheffler.

He was in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Enright during World War II.

He was a mail handler at the U.S.P.S. Lehigh Valley distribution center. He was a trumpet player with the Blue Jays and other local bands.

He was a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Roman Catholic Church, Whitehall.

He was a member of the Destroyer Escort Sailors Association, the St. Aloysius Young Men’s Society, the Izaak Walton Rod and Gun Club and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Michelle and her husband Barry Costa and Sharon and her husband Thomas Stewart; a son, Phillip and his wife Valerie; three grandchildren, Kimberly and her husband Brad Heintzelman, Andrew Costa and Chelsea Tinker; and a great-grandson, Brayden.

There will be a calling hour 9 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m., both Dec. 10 at the church, 618 Fullerton Ave., Whitehall.
