Emil V. Malinowski

Emil V. Malinowski, 91, long time resident of Emmaus, died Nov. 27, 2015, at Fellowship Manor, Whitehall. He was the husband of the late Bette J. (Wyte) Malinowski. Born in Forty Fort, he was the eldest child of the late Frank E. and Mary (Schmitt) Malinowski.

He attended local public and parochial schools, graduating from Forty Fort High School in 1942.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army in World War II and served with the famous 96th Division in the Pacific. He participated in two amphibious landings; Leyte for the Liberation of the Philippines and Okinawa, where as a 21-year-old sergeant, he was wounded and received the Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars.

Returning from the war, he continued his education. He had previously studied engineering at Colorado School of Mines and then graduated from Pennsylvania Military College (now Widener University) with a degree in business. He later attended graduate school at the University of Michigan, studying tax law.

He worked nearly 50 years for the Federal Government, first as a soldier and then as a U.S. Treasury agent, Bureau of Internal Revenue, where he was widely recognized for his work on a number of the largest corporate tax audits in the country.

He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, Emmaus, for over 60 years.

He is survived by children, Emil V., Jr. and his wife Elizabeth, John and his wife Ann, Marie and her husband David Kirk and Jane and her husband Alan Riegel; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, John; sister, Nancy LeGrand.

Services will be held 10:15 a.m. Dec. 3 at the Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 225 Elm St., Emmaus, followed by 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ann Catholic Church, Emmaus. A viewing will be held 9 to 10:15 a.m. Dec. 3 in the funeral home.
