William H. Gold

William H. Gold, 77, of Nazareth, died Nov. 23, 2015, at Hospice House of the VNA of St. Luke’s, Bethlehem. He was the husband of Sandra B. (Benner) Gold for 48 years.

Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Howard E. and Esther S. (Halteman) Gold.

He was a 1956 Nazareth High School graduate.

He was in the U.S. Army, stateside, during the Vietnam era.

He was a teller for Lafayette-Ambassador Bank, Nazareth, for 25 years.

He was a member of the Nazareth Moravian Church.

He was a volunteer Easton Express Times statistician for 50 years for Nazareth area football and, for 40 years, with basketball. He was honored by the Nazareth football team. He headed and coached the Nazareth youth baseball program for 40 years.

The Borough of Nazareth named the South Green Street Field after him. He was given the Mayor’s Citizen of Service Award. He was a volunteer for the borough recreation committee and was instrumental in the Nazareth Day program. He was a member of the Lehigh Valley Garden Railroad and the Nazareth Area Society of Model Engineers, Stockertown.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother-in-law, Raymond Benner of Ocala, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Jean Ullman of Bethlehem Township; two cousins, David S. Halteman and family of Bethlehem and Edward W. Halteman Jr. and family of Middlesex, N.J.
