Dorothy M. Schuon

Dorothy M. “Dotty” Schuon, 79, died Nov. 8, 2015, at Manor Care, Allentown, under the loving care of staff and surrounded by her family. She was the wife of John “Jack” Schuon for 59 years. Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Pauline (Merkle) Fatzinger. She was a longtime resident of Macungie.

She was a dedicated mother to her daughters and grandma to her grandchildren. From age 16 to 50 she worked full-time then retired to start a new career as “playmate to her grandchildren.”

She loved ‘50s and ‘60s rock ‘n’ roll music and her claim to fame was Saturday nights on the dance floor. She was well-known in the Lehigh Valley as the blonde with the pony tail, poodle skirt and saddle shoes worn on special occasions. An inspiring dancing queen beyond age 75, she was loved by all who met her.

She was a life-time member of BMW Sportsmen of Pennsylvania, Lehigh Northampton Raccoon Protective Association and Keystone Motorcycle Club.

She was of the Lutheran faith.

She is survived by her husband; daughters, Ellen wife of the late Pete deVolpi, Ruby and her husband Gary Scott, Melody and her husband Blaine Herb; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Contributions may be made to the Allentown Salvation Army or Allentown Rescue Mission.

Visitation will be held 10 to 11 a.m. Nov. 28, followed by a Celebration of Life Service 11 a.m., Stephens Funeral Home, Inc., 274 N. Krocks Road, Allentown, 18106.
