Chris A. Matten
Chris Alan Matten, 62, of Annapolis, Md., died July 19, 2015, at Kalispell Regional Hospital, Kalispell, Mont.
Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Elwood Luther Charles and Helen Mae (Schantzenbach) Matten.
He graduated from Catasauqua High School and attended Eastman School of Music and University of Texas at Austin.
As an educator, he was on the faculties of Baylor University and Southwestern University, Texas.
He served his country honorably as a member of the United States Armed Forces Bicentennial Band, 1975-76, and The United States Air Force Band, Washington, D.C., 1983-2008.
A lifelong performing musician, he was most recently active with the Annapolis Chorale, Brass of the Potomac, Concert Artists of Baltimore and the Kennedy Center Orchestra.
He is survived by his wife, Erica Montgomery of Annapolis; a son, Noah Matten of Baltimore, Md.; daughters, Erin and her husband Adam Martin of Statesboro, Ga., and Kelly and her husband Michael McGregor of Annapolis, Md.; grandchildren, Connor A. Martin, Anna Kate McGregor, Jackson M. McGregor and Jonathan M. McGregor; brothers, William and his wife Ellen Matten of State College, Dean and his wife Betsy Matten of Evans, Colo.; sister, Karen and her husband Foster Morgan of Allentown; nieces and nephews; and former wife, Claire Corcoran of Baltimore, Md.

Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Dec. 16 at Arlington National Cemetery, followed by a “celebration of life” gathering at the Women in Military Service for America Memorial, Ft. Myer, Va.
