York College
Kurt Keller of Allentown, a senior history major, was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at York College of Pennsylvania.
To be eligible for this honor, a student must be registered for at least 12 academic credit hours and earn a semester grade point average of 3.50 or higher.
U. of Sciences
Patrick Brown of Allentown, a doctor of pharmacy student, was named to the summer dean’s list at University of the Sciences, Philadelphia.
Selection for this award is based on a student completing and passing all assigned courses with no grade below a “C” and attaining an academic average of at least 3.4 for courses taken in the summer semester of 2015.
Muhlenberg
Jacob Najarian of Kempton was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Muhlenberg College, Allentown.
Najarian, a math major in the class of 2018, is a 2014 graduate of Northwestern Lehigh High School.
Additionally, he is a defensive end on Muhlenberg’s varsity football team.
The dean’s list recognizes students who achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 while completing a minimum of 12 semester hours.
Suny
Dr. Gladstone “Fluney” Hutchinson of Orefield, associate professor of economics and founding director of Economic Empowerment and Global Learning Project at Lafayette College, was named a 2015 SUNY Oneonta Alumni of Distinction honoree.
Hutchinson graduated from SUNY Oneonta in 1983.
In 2014, the SUNY Oneonta Alumni Association established the Alumni of Distinction program to recognize graduates who have distinguished themselves through their careers.
The 2015 Alumni of Distinction honorees were recognized at a ceremony on Sept. 4, which is also “Red Day,” the anniversary of SUNY Oneonta’s founding.
Wilkes Univ.
Marissa Oertner of Schnecksville, was one of 15 Wilkes University students inducted into the Teacher Education Program at a pinning ceremony Oct. 20.
The ceremony marked their achievement of completing the Pennsylvania Department of Education requirements for entrance into the Teacher Education Program: passing a test of basic skills for educators; earning at least a 3.0 grade point average; completing 48 credit hours including six credits in mathematics and six credits in English.
She will continue her studies in education and her major content area at the advanced level of coursework, which will culminate in student teaching.
Oertner is an elementary and early childhood education major with dual certification in special education.
