Marie T. McCormick, 67, fondly known as “Tess,” died Oct. 7, 2015. Born in Lima, Ohio, she was the daughter of Ramona and the late Bernard Hugh. She grew up with her parents and six brothers in Macungie.
She attended St. Ann School in Emmaus and Allentown Central Catholic High School. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology from the University Del Sagrado Corazon in Santurce, Puerto Rico in 1970. After working many years for the Catholic Social Agency in Allentown, she moved to Philadelphia where she worked for ARCO and then Temple University in employee relations. In 1990, she graduated with a Master of Public Administration degree from Temple University.
She moved to Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. in 1995 with her mother and embarked on a trip around the world. She worked at Mayo Clinic for many years before recently retiring.
She volunteered at Beaches Mission House and the Red Cross but mostly she cared for her family. She was an auxiliary member of the Veterans of Anzio Beachhead World War II.
She was a faithful member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish in Ponte Vedra.
She is survived by her mother, of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. and brothers, Thomas and his wife Dr. Mary O’Connor, of Jacksonville Beach, Fla., Daniel and his wife Mary Ellen, of Forty Fort, Timothy, of Australia, William and his wife Claire, of Lower Gwynedd; many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
