Truman D. Kunsman
Truman D. Kunsman, 95, of Catasauqua, died Oct. 12, 2015, at his home. He was the husband of the late Louise (Barth) Kunsman.
Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late Harry and Lucy (Hendricks) Kunsman.
He was a Liberty High School graduate and earned a degree from Millersville State Teachers College.
He was a corporal in the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II and was awarded a bronze star.
He was an industrial arts teacher at Catasauqua Area High School until he retired. Earlier, he worked in the No. 2 machine shop at Bethlehem Steel.
He was a member of Advent Moravian Church, Bethlehem. He was a member of the Fullerton American Legion Post 367, Whitehall. He was a past master of Bethlehem Lodge 283, Masonic Temple, and had dual membership with Porter Lodge 284, Catasauqua. He was a member of the Lehigh Consistory, Valley of Allentown; Rajah Shrine, Reading; Tall Cedars of Lebanon; Mercantile Club, Emmaus; and the Lehigh Shrine Club.
He was a trombonist with the former Joe Gilly Orchestra, the New Holland Band, Citizen’s Band of Rohrerstown and the Tall Cedars Band. He was a member of the Lehigh Valley Musicians Association.
He is survived by a sister, Betty Kemmerer of Bethlehem; two sisters-in-law, Gertrude Kunsman and Dorothy Bedics; a brother-in-law, Lloyd Kemmerer; and nieces and nephews and their families.
He was predeceased by a brother, Earl Kunsman Sr., and two sisters, Blanche Kunsman and Altha Gubich.
