B-13 was the magic number for Meghan Hoffman. She was playing bingo at the Lynnport Fire Company as a fundraiser sponsored by the Northwestern Lehigh Alumni Association.
The event was organized by Charlene Silva, president of the association.
A long list of members and nonmembers made donations to the Chinese auction held in conjunction with the bingo.
Ken Kistler donated Perma Column water and food, Crystal Springs gave a gift card, Germansville Feed donated $35, Kermit Kistler donated a gift card, and Smokey Wessner of Flint Hill Farms donated 10 bags of potatoes.
Susan and Donald Christ made donations to the Chinese auction.
Money raised goes to the Education Foundation for mini-grants for the teachers, Snack Packs for students and to the Christ’s Church at Lowhill Food Pantry.
The pantry received 237 pounds of food contributed by people who came to the event in lieu of paying admission. The grant program was given $10,000 over the years.
Nancy Zellner, Gloria Zimmerman, Justine Bachman and Charlene Silva’s busy hands kept things moving smoothly.
Charles Fenstermacher was the bingo caller and members of the Northwestern Lehigh High School Leo Club helped out.
Socks were donated in honor of Sylvia Koenig, a former secretary at the school and active participant in the association.
They went to the Blessings Shop at Christ’s Church at Lowhill Food Pantry, said Justine Bachman, adding the sock drive will be an annual collection.
