Angelo Ralph Fernicola, 95, of Paterson, N.J., died Oct. 8, 2015, at the Veterans Administration Community Living Center, Lyons, N.J. He was the husband of the late Ida Helen (Aurilia) Fernicola. They were married for 63 years. Born in Polla, Italy, he was the son of the late Anthony V. and Luisa (Stabile) Fernicola.
He was the owner/operator of R.A.F. Food Products in Paterson, until his retirement.
He was a World War II Army veteran who served in all five campaigns of Europe as Military Police on motorcycle (named “Ida”) and an infantryman during D-Day Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. He was a disabled American veteran, being injured during his service and losing sight in his left eye.
He was a member of DAV and local VFW posts.
He is survived by daughters, Patricia Harsell, of Lincoln Park, N.J.; Susan and her husband Charles Kalan, of Portsmouth, Va.; son, Ralph A., Jr., of Whippany, N.J.; brother, Eugene V., of Wayne, N.J.; granddaughter, Lauren and her husband Robert Munden, of Chesapeake, Va.; great-granddaughters, Addison, Lydia and Paige Munden of Chesapeake. He was predeceased by siblings, Carmen, Albert and Marie Burchett.
