William Roman III, 84, of North Catasauqua, died Sept. 29, 2015, at his residence. He was the husband of the late Jane Roman for 34 years.

Born in Coaldale, he was a son of Mary Polansky and William Roman II.

He was a 1950 graduate of Whitehall High School, where he played football and baseball.

He was a sergeant in the National Guard from 1953 to 1957.

He opened Roman’s Body Shop in 1957, and for 55 years, he repaired and painted vehicles.

He was a winemaker and won awards throughout the United States in the organic wine and champagne categories.

He is survived by three children from his first wife, Rita; a daughter, Donna; two sons, Butch and his wife Linda and Bob and his wife Judy; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; two grandsons; an aunt, Pauline; an uncle, Dan; and cousins.
