Kutztown U.

Kutztown resident Anna Behm, a senior from the Kutztown University field hockey team led the Golden Bears to a 2-0 record after recording hat-tricks in each game, earning her this season’s first Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Field Hockey Athlete of the Week, announced Sept. 15 by the conference office.

In the season opener against Mansfield, Behm scored three times as KU defeated the Mountaineers, 6-0.

On Sept. 13, she had a hand in all four goals in a 4-2 victory at Newberry.

She compiled three goals and one assist.

Currently, Behm leads all of Division II in goals six, points 14, points per game 4.67, and is tied for the lead in assists 2 and goals per game 2.0.

No other player in Division II has more than eight points or four goals.

For Behm, it is her first PSAC Athlete of the Week honor.

She currently ranks sixth all-time at KU with 40 career goals.

Muhlenberg

Jacob Najarian of Kempton was named to the dean’s list for the Sspring semester at Muhlenberg College, Allentown.

Najarian, a math major in the class of 2018, is a 2014 graduate of Northwestern Lehigh High School.

Additionally, he is a defensive end on Muhlenberg’s varsity football team.

The dean’s list recognizes students who achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 while completing a minimum of 12 semester hours.

Alvernia U.

Taylor Faust of Kutztown has been named a tutor in the Learning Center of Alvernia University, Reading.

Faust, majoring in occupational therapy, was selected to tutor Anatomy and Physiology, for which she is a supplemental instruction leader, for the 2015-16 academic year.

Peer tutors are members of the Alvernia University Learning Center staff selected on the basis of academic skill, leadership, character, and the ability to communicate well with others.

They work on a one-on-one basis or in small group sessions to answer questions on course content and to aid in comprehension of course material.

Tutors are expected to have extensive knowledge of the subject they are hired to tutor and the ability to communicate that knowledge to their peers.
