John L. Cook, 80, of Whitehall, died Sept. 7, 2015, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of the late Shirley L. (Eck) Cook.

Born in Lanark, he was a son of the late Joseph and Mary Anna (Herman) Cook.

He was an operating engineer for Elco-Hausman Construction Corporation, a division of Eastern Industries Inc., Stabler Land Company, until he retired in 1999.

He is survived by two sons, John L. Jr. of Whitehall and Gary L. of Breinigsville; four daughters, Mary A. Phillips of Morgantown, Donna M. Johnson of Whitehall, Robin L. of Palmerton and Nancy A. of Whitehall; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
