Joan C. Hood, 71, of Macungie, died Sept. 7, 2015, in Lehigh Valley Inpatient Hospice. She was the beloved wife of W.E. “Rusty” Hood, to whom she was married for 48 years. Born in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Thomas L. and Grace M. (Miller) Casey and stepdaughter of the late Rosellen Casey.

She was a 1966 graduate of Elmira College.

She worked as a remedial assistant for the East Penn School District and later worked in the bookstore at DeSales University, retiring in 2008.

She was an accomplished seamstress and craft person, making dolls and Halloween costumes.

She is survived by her husband; sons Michael S., of Allentown and Jeffrey P., of Lovettsville, Va.; daughter, Tracey, wife of Ryan Gallagher, of Emmaus; brother, Brian T. Casey, of Southampton, Mass.; grandchildren, Lillian G. Gallagher and Nelson A. Lovos.
