Robert E. Serafin Sr., 93, of Allentown, died Sept. 4, 2015, at Phoebe Home, Allentown. He was the husband of the late Elaine (Hertus) Serafin.

Born in Plains, he was a son of the late John and Julia (Lewandoski) Serafin.

He had 35 years of service with the Army until he retired. He was a medic and military police during World War II and was a criminal investigator during Vietnam and Korea, stationed in Thailand and Germany.

He was the head of security at the Hotel Bethlehem.

He was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Berlinsville.

He is survived by a son, Robert E. and his wife Tina Serafin of Slatington; two daughters, Elaine and her husband John Haury of Port Orange, Fla., and Roberta and her husband Ronald Heiser of Slatington; a brother, John Serafin of Plains; four grandchildren, Jennifer Pugh-Stephens, Alyson Serafin, Shelby Serafin and Kyle Heiser; and one great-granddaughter, Sarah Stephens.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Diana McCarthy, and a sister, Helen D’Agostino.

There will be a calling hour 7- 8:30 p.m., Sept. 10, and 10-11 a.m., followed by a service at 11 a.m., Sept. 11, at Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Ave., Northampton, 18067.
