Mary Arnold Fries, 41, of Northampton, died Aug. 29, 2015, after battling cancer. She was the wife of Stephen Fries.
She was a daughter of June (Dougherty) Arnold and the late James T. Arnold Sr.
She was a Northampton High School graduate. She earned a degree in social work from Cedar Crest College.
She was employed by the Northampton Area Public Library for 17 years and led the book club discussions.
She was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, Seemsville, where she formerly taught a Sunday School class and helped run the nursery during church.
She was a former president of Northampton Middle School PTA and was involved in the Friends of the Library group and conducted its bus trips.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children, Zackary, Joseph, Jared and Natalie; three sisters, Angel and her husband Christopher Firmstone, Heather and her husband Patrick Stewart and Cyndy and her husband Bill Best; two brothers, Kevin Arnold and James Arnold Jr.; several nieces and nephews; and her best friend, Rachel Bauder Robinson and her mother, Christine Bauder.
