Robert P. “Bob” Bretz, 79, of Whitehall, died Aug. 22, 2015, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Dorothy M. (Johnson) Bretz for 48 years.
Born in Treichlers, he was a son of the late William and Anna (Rayden) Bretz.
He was a 1954 Catasauqua High School graduate.
He was an U.S. Navy military policeman.
He was a biology teacher in the Southern Lehigh School District for more than 37 years. He was chairman of the science department.
While teaching at Southern Lehigh, he was a ski club sponsor and, earlier, coached football. He was a watercolor artist.
He was a member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, Whitehall, where he was a past church council president, a choir member and an usher.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Jennifer and her husband Craig Bauhaus of Chester Springs; a son, James “Jamie” and his wife Andrea of Pennsburg; and four grandchildren, Hannah, Rachel, Alexa and Jackson.
He was predeceased by two brothers, William and Richard Bretz.
