Flower lovers unite to aid Northwestern Lehigh band

At the end of the parking lot at Northwestern Lehigh School District, there was a colorful blanket of flowers as the band boosters held their annual flower sale.

The flowers were donated to help support the band programs.

There were signs announcing the sale but they had been removed, not maliciously but along with a cleanup at the Routes 100 and 309 intersection.

So, Linda Eberle made the flower mask for Alyssa Zack to wear as she and her mother and sister try to attract attention.

"There is always somebody looking," said Sheryl Baran, who was putting together the flat boxes received as a donation from Weis Markets.

She said there are 40 members in the marching band and 60 in the concert and jazz bands.

Darren Dengler played trumpet with a broken arm. He plays in the high school marching band, jazz band and middle school concert and high school bands.

For his extra special effort he was awarded the Eighth Grade Directors' Award presented by director James Lykens.
