William Wenz Binder, 67, of Coopersburg, died Aug. 6, 2015, while swimming at the Rodale Aquatic Center, Cedar Crest College. He was the husband of Arabella Binder. They would have been married for 42 years this December. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Paul and Esther (Wenz) Binder.

He graduated from William Allen High School, Allentown, in 1965 and went on to study finance at Norman Park and graduated from Valdosta State University in Georgia. He then entered his family business as secretary of the Wenz Company, Allentown, where he sold monuments and mausoleums for more than 35 years, retiring in 2007. Also, he and his wife ran Binder Apartments.

He was an avid scuba diver and swimmer, swimming at Muhlenberg College and the Rodale Aquatic Center for more than 20 years.

He loved to travel, enjoyed cruises and fishing.

He was a member of the Lehigh County Historical Society and was a history buff. He enjoyed attending reenactments, listening to historical lectures and reading historical nonfiction.

He was a lifetime member of Lehigh Valley Active LIfe Center, Allentown, where he took weekly exercise and history classes. He loved going out for dinner and dancing.

He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Allentown, where he served on the property committee for many years.

He is survived by his wife; daughter, Christina Sayre and her husband Oliver (Jay), of North Catasauqua; grandchildren, Miranda, Kayla, Alden, Savanna, all of North Catasauqua; sisters, Kay and her husband Joseph Berghold, of Lodi, Calif., and Sandra and her husband Joseph Stanton, of Breinigsville; brothers, Earl and his wife Amy and Paul Jr. and his wife Sharon, of Breinigsville; niece, Lori and her husband Michael Csencsitz, of Bethlehem; many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Aug. 13 at the Trexler Funeral Home, 1625 W. Highland St., Allentown. Calling will begin 11 a.m.
