Edward F. Garger

Edward F. Garger, 89, of Whitehall, died June 21, 2015, in Weston Village, Northampton. He was the husband of Helen (Koval) Garger.

Born in Northampton, he was a son of the late John and Anna (Horvath) Garger.

He was in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He worked in area clothing shops for many years. He later was a psychiatric aide at Allentown State Hospital until he retired after 15 years.

He was a member of Queenship of Mary Church.

He was a member of the Tri-Boro Sportsmen Club and a life member of the Northampton VFW Post 4714.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a grandson, Scott Garger; a brother, Michael and his wife Jan Garger of Allentown; four sisters, Stella Luisser of Northampton, Helen and her husband Stan Lasinsky of Seemsville, Hilda Maron of Macungie, and Anita Verholy of Allentown; and two sisters-in-law, Lafawn Garger of Florida and Mary Schmidt of Northampton.

He was predeceased by a son, Edwin; five brothers, John, Louis, Stephen, Frank and Edwin Schmidt; seven sisters, Rose Wolfel, Pauline Jandrovits, Anna Ifkovits, Elsie Weaver, Margaret Scarcia, Erna Bartholomew and Lillian Schaeffer; and his stepmother, Josephine Garger.
