Harold E. Nicholas

Harold E. Nicholas, 85, of Macungie, and formerly of Riegelsville, died July 2, 2015, in Lehigh Valley Hospital. He was the husband of Gladys Nicholas. They were married 61 years. Born in Easton, he was a son of the late W. Orville and Grace Nicholas.

He was a 1947 graduate of Easton High School.

For 44 years he worked as a winder operator for the Milford Mill of the Riegel Paper Corp. For about 40 years, he was a part-time employee of the Robert W. Snyder Funeral Home.

He enjoyed gardening, traveling and photography.

He was a life-time member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Durham where he served as treasurer, councilman, financial secretary, usher and treasurer of the Sunday school.

He was a member of the Durham Cemetery Board and was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife; children, Patricia and her husband Jack Taylor, Deborah and her husband Ernest Angstadt, James, Edward and his wife Natalie; seven grandchildren, Michael, Matthew and Mitchell Taylor, Jarrod and Jeremy Angstadt and Joseph and Valerie; four great-grandchildren, Jackson, Zoe, Levi and William Taylor; sister, Ruth Holena. He was predeceased by a sister, Carol.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. July 8 in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Durham. Friends may call at the church 10 to 11 a.m. July 8 Arrangments were made by the Robert W. Snyder Funeral Home, Riegelsville.
