Bruce W. Newhard, 69, died June 10, 2015, at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest. He was the husband of Gloria (Andrews) Newhard for 48 years.

He was a son of the late Delthine (Becker) Newhard-Schmidt and the late Walter Newhard.

He was a 1965 graduate of Northampton High School, where he wrestled under the late Harry Wall.

He was a plane captain on the USS Forestal in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Norfolk, Va.

He retired from Bethlehem Steel after 26 years. He worked at the Lehigh Valley Zoo.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Vicki and her husband Abbas Mahmoud and their children Adam and Lyla; a son, Gregory and his wife Jessica and their children Erika and Chad; three granddaughters, Ashley and Alicia Newhard and Elizabeth Schwoyer, daughters of Michele Carraghan; two great-grandchildren, Emma and Jayden; two sisters, Judith Kovach and Sandra Marth and their spouses; three brothers, David and Willard Newhard and their spouses and Patrick Schmidt; and nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Richard and James Newhard.
