The Allen Township Board of Supervisors at its meeting last Thursday gave the go-ahead to township Manager Ilene Eckhart to apply for a Northampton County open space grant.
The funding, if approved, will pay for damage at Howertown Park caused by last winter's weather.
Eckhart reported to the board that the concession stand was damaged, along with other areas of the park. The amount of funding that will be sought in the grant application is not known.
The county was a major contributor toward the township's dog park that was constructed off Savage Road. The dog park should be ready for opening shortly.
In other business, board members reviewed a sample of a parking violation ticket, making minor recommendations, that will be placed on vehicles illegally parked at areas throughout the township.
The parking ticket is universal and will apply across the township, not just for sections of Bullshead and Willowbrook roads, designated earlier as bike lanes near Catasauqua High School.
Tickets will be issued for motorists parked in a designated area marked no parking, fire lane, driveway or access and handicapped.
Since the township does not have a police department, state police perform its law enforcement. The township will designate its code enforcement officer to write the ticket and enforce the no parking zones.
It was also announced during the meeting that the township's volunteer fire company reported 218 alarm hours, 26 alarms and 93 training hours in May. There was no fire damage reported for the month.
