Robert E. Heist, 87, of Northampton, died June 6, 2015, at Lehigh Valley Hospice-Inpatient Unit, Allentown. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth (Morello) Heist.

Born in Wescosville, he was a son of the late Oliver and Beulah (Reichard) Heist.

He was a private first class in the U.S. Army.

He was a head foreman at the Keystone Cement Company until he retired in 1993.

He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church.

He was involved with the Boy Scouts of America. He was a member of the American Legion Post 470, Bath; and a life member of the Northampton Historical Society.

He is survived by a son, Daniel R. of Brookline, Mass.; two daughters, Roberta J. of Fort Bragg, Calif. and Nancy J. and her husband David Skok of Allentown; two brothers, Paul Heist of Allentown and Luke and his wife Rose Heist of Florida; a sister, Alice Adams of Emmaus; ; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by five brothers, Ralph, George, Earl, Wilbur and Morgan Heist; and three sisters, Frances Muhlberger, Marion Romig and Arlene Ruth.
