EMMAUS HIGH SCHOOL

As Pomp and Circumstance played by the Emmaus High School Orchestra, the 579 Emmaus High School Class of 2015 students entered Stabler Arena for the graduation ceremony June 7.

The national anthem was played by the orchestra led by Conductor Connie Arnold and the Emmaus High School Alma Mater was sung by the high school chorale, led by Director Rita Cortez.

The Class of 1965 was introduced by Principal David Piperato.

Mark Covelle, assistant principal for the Class of 2015, introduced the Hall of Fame Inductee Daniel Intriago. Intriago is in the top one percent of the National Honor Society. Covelle said Intriago is musically inclined, genuine, inquisitive, mature, diplomatic and absolutely amazing according to his teachers. He will be attending University of Delaware in the fall.

Daniel Amankwatia, president of the Class of 2015, spoke about "Truths." His first "truth" told graduates, "you are ready for the future." The second truth was, "Nobody can reach greatness on their own." The third truth was, "You don't have to wait for greatness." Amankwatia concluded with "never wait to be great."

Morgan Patterson, spoke representing the class. "Motivation does not have to be an extreme event," Patterson said. "Change does not have to be super dramatic setting but change can be significant. "Write the great sequel with excitement and adventure."

Brooke Cichocki, president of the National Honor Society, spoke about the "720 days in Emmaus High School. We've grown from 18 inches to 70 some inches. We matured and learned to grow. Have courage to continue that," Cichocki said.

A Lehigh Career and Technical Institute student Brandon Acevedo-Penare presented the vo-tech career path perspective at graduation. "This was the best decision in my high school career… to choose vo-tech as a curriculum choice. There are many choices within this curriculum from the culinary field to cosmetics and auto technician. You can accomplish anything you put your mind to. Take the road less travelled. You can reach your dreams."

Daniel Intriago, the recipient of the induction to the 2015 Hall of Fame, spoke about his four important years in his career. "Don't say goodbye to high school, say see you later. It's more optimistic. Inspire everybody to make a change. We've come a long way but still have a long path in front of us. Our journey has only just begun."

Principal David Piperato presented the Class of 2015 to the board of directors and School Board President Alan Earnshaw declared the students graduated.
