Carol Ritter is recognized with Good Scout Award
On Tuesday, April 21, Carol Ritter received the Good Scout Award from the Boy Scouts of America during a ceremony at The Barnhouse.
She was recognized by Scouts, friends, family, businesses and community leaders for her achievements and service to the children and families in the North Valley District.
The Good Scout Award is presented to those who exemplify in their daily life the ideals of the Boy Scouts of America as expressed in the Scout oath and law. Recipients are chosen for their outstanding community service, as evidenced by their leadership to many worthwhile organizations, as well as the respect and esteem in which they are held by their colleagues.
Nathaniel Treichler, a Life Scout with Color Guard Troop 93 of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Northampton, opened the ceremony, which was followed by an invocation.
Mary Kositz nominated and presented the Good Scout Award to Ritter.
"I nominated Carol because, all of her life, she has spent her time lifting people up. It's her turn to be lifted up," Kositz said.
"I am humbled and excited to receive this wonderful honor," Ritter said.
Guest speakers included State Rep. Julie Harhart (R-183rd); Bath Mayor Fiorella Reginelli-Mirabito and Scout executive Craig Poland.
Harhart said, "I am honored to present this award for Ritter's outstanding service and dedication to our Boy Scouts."
"Carol Ritter has always set positive examples for others and demonstrates selfless concern and care for her community," Poland said.
"I am honored to present this amazing, dedicated, inspiring woman a plaque and certificate in recognition of the Boy Scouts of America Good Scout Award," said Mirabito. "Along with her selfless dedication to the businesses and people of the Borough of Bath, it is an honor to know a person and become friends with someone that is all about helping others."
