Mabel Dorney-Sandt of East Texas

Mabel (Stauffer) Dorney-Sandt, 107, of East Texas, died peacefully in her home May 19, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. She and her late husband, Warren, raised six children, all of whom still reside in the Lehigh Valley. Born in 1908, she grew up on her family's farm in Upper Milford Township. She was one of nine children born to Oscar and Agnes (Knappenberger) Stauffer.

Warren founded Dorney Printing Company but was killed in a tragic car accident in 1949, never seeing its tremendous success, when Day-Timer became its largest client and later merged into one company. Mabel and all her children held positions at Day-Timer. She was the last one to retire at the age of 84 and was well known and loved by her fellow employees. In her remarkable 107 years, she was known for her tremendous work ethic, her unconditional love for her family and her unwavering faith.

She was a devoted member of Cedar United Church of Christ, Cetronia, a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star New Temple Chapter #298 and a big fan of the Philadelphia Phillies, who will be honored her during a pre-game show.

She is survived by sons, Robert Dorney and his wife Hazel, William Dorney and his wife Bernie, Richard Dorney and his wife Eunice; daughters, Jean and her husband Allen Walk, Betty and the late Richard Grey and Nancy and the late Harry Steltz; 13 grandchildren, Craig, Timothy, Dennis, Kerry, Deborah, Faye Ann, Janice, Patricia, Cynthia, Christopher, Richard II, Keith and Pamela; 21 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband Warren Dorney, her second husband Wilbur Sandt, grandson Larry, eight siblings, daughter-in-law Audrey and one great-granddaughter.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the church or Hospice of VNA of St. Luke's, 1510 Valley Center Parkway, Suite 200, Bethlehem, 18017.

Arrangements were made by the Trexler Funeral Home, Allentown.
