There is a contest in the race for Moore Township supervisor in the primary election May 19. This is a six-year term.
Only one Democratic seat is available; however, two candidates, Randolph Emery and Maynard S. Campbell Jr., are both vying for that spot against Republican candidate Richard K. Gable.
The Press reached out to both Emery and Campbell and asked the following question:
What makes you uniquely qualified for this position?
Only Campbell answered. His response follows.
"I was the working supervisor, running the road department, and chairing the board for my six years.
"By utilizing less money, men and equipment, we accomplished more than is being done presently.
"In working with Athletic Association President Mr. Zeckman, we achieved common goals for the children and the community.
"I was secretary of the zoning hearing board before becoming supervisor.
"My committee rewrote our zoning regulations to better preserve our township.
"In creating our EAC, we achieved our farmland preservation program before I left office."
Emery declined to comment.
Gable, the lone Republican, will face the winner of the primary in November's general election.
