William J. Shafnisky, 81, of Ballietsville, died April 7, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospital, Allentown campus. He was the husband of the late Rose (Killo) Shanifsky.

Born in Egypt, he was a son of the late William A. and Katie E. (Novak) Shafnisky.

He was a 1951 graduate of Whitehall High School

He was a private first class (T) in the U.S. Army.

He was a machinist for Bethlehem Steel Corporation for 35 years.

He was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Evangelical Lutheran Church, Egypt.

He is survived by three sisters, Dorothy R. Karpyn, Martha M. Shafnisky and Catherine J. Brobst, all of Whitehall; nieces; nephews; and his companion Marry Conn of Lewes, Del.

He was predeceased by a step daughter, Pat; and four brothers, Richard, Alfred, Thomas and David.
