On a recent clear night, members of Parkland High School's Astronomy Club met in the parking lot of the high school to see their first live views of the stars and planets.
Many of the students were surprised to see four of Jupiter's moons as well as the rough surface of Earth's moon through high-quality telescopes.
Advisor Mandy Weidenplummer enlisted the help of Lehigh University Professor of Physics Gary DeLeo PhD.
DeLeo brought two very sophisticated telescopes for the students to use.
Though it was a cold late March evening, each student seemed to be warmed by their reaction to seeing planets live instead of through photographs.
