Irene M. Scannell, 95, formerly of Catasauqua, died peacefully April 11, 2015 in Cedarbrook nursing home, South Whitehall, where she was a guest for the past five years.

She was the wife of John J. Scannell, who died in 1991.

Born in Coplay, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary (Sidor) Yanik.

She was a longtime and dedicated member of St. Lawrence the Martyr Catholic Church, Catasauqua.

A seamstress at the former Modern Pants Factory, Allentown, she retired in 1984.

Her survivors include a son John T. "Jack" and his wife, Monica, of Whitehall; and grandchildren Katelyn and John A. Scannell.

She was predeceased by infant daughter Colleen; sisters Anna Dobyan and Helen Yanik; and brothers Joseph, Walter, Frank, Edward and Stanley.
