HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL: LINCOLN LEADERSHIP

"Fame" will be staged at 7 p.m. April 24- and 25 in the auditorium of Lincoln Leadership Academy Charter School, 1401 E. Cedar St., Allentown.

"Fame" has a cast of 40 students, including quiet violinist Schlomo (Brandon Matos), fame-obsessed Carmen (Luli Colon), Ms. Sherman (Janaiya Cupid), ambitious actress Serena (Gabriela Galarza), dyslexic dancer Tyrone (Kevon Cody), wise-cracking Joe (Di Anthony Vasquez) and Nick (Chris Esposito).

Director is Julie Valenzuela. Greg Guzevich is Orchestra Conductor.

"Fame" is about students attending New York City's High School Of Performing Arts. During their four years together with a focus on music, dance and acting, the students experience highs and lows in their quest for fame.

"It is important for Lincoln Leadership Academy to produce a play in which the students can relate to the characters whose parts they will be performing," says Valenzuela.

The musical, adapted from the hit 1980 movie, made its New York debut off-Broadway in 2000 at the Little Schubert Theatre.

The music is by Steve Margoshes. The lyrics are by Jacques Levi. The book is by Jose Fernandez.

The show's best-known song is the title song, "Fame."
