Arthur W. Reid Jr.

Arthur W. Reid Jr., 74, a longtime resident of Fellowship Community, Whitehall, died March 18, 2015.

Born in Chicago, he was a son of the late Arthur W. and Ruth A. (Roth) Reid.

He was a 1958 Allentown High School graduate. He attended Penn State University.

He was in the U.S. Army and served in Europe.

He was chief deputy of the Lehigh County coroner's office for many years. He worked previously at Sacred Heart Hospital.

Active in emergency medicine for all of his life, he was a former chairman of the board for the Cetronia Ambulance Corps. He was the first state certified paramedic coordinator and civil defense director for the City of Allentown. He was a past secretary and treasurer of the Lehigh Emergency Services training institute, and a director of the National Emergency Services training institute. He was a charter member of the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians and was a member of the Pennsylvania Coroners Association. He was a past president of IBEW Local 375.

He is survived by two daughters, Faye E. and her husband Tom Hartzell of Nazareth, and Carrie and her husband John Claypoole of Clymer, N.Y.; three sons, Jeffrey and his wife Dacia of Nappanee, Ind., Jay and his wife Sandy of Whitehall, and Arthur W. and his wife Becky of New Holland; eight grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a brother, Ronald J. Reid.
