Bike lane planned for Willowbrook, Bullshead

A bike lane along Willowbrook and Bullshead roads will soon be a part of the Allen Township landscape.

The board of supervisors at the March 12 meeting moved forward with establishing the bike lane.

The supervisors agreed to cap spending at $5,000 for the pavement markings and signage. The work is planned for later this spring.

According to Vice Chairman Bruce Frack, the bicycle lane will help address the issue relating to vehicles parking along the sides of both roads to watch soccer games and other athletic events at Catasauqua High School.

Frack and other board members have argued vehicle parking along the sides of the road poses a safety issue.

The length of the bicycle lane will be 2,000 feet.

In other business, township Solicitor B. Lincoln Treadwell reported the security deposit for Towpath Estates on West 27th Street has expired. He said an extension has been requested until June 22.

Treadwell also said he will confer with Embassy Bank.

There have been no houses constructed at the site. Treadwell said the township may well reduce the $1.3 million posted line of security credit, which earlier was $2 million.
