Juvenile charged with possessing explosive materials
A 16-year-old Whitehall Township boy has been charged as a juvenile with unlawful possession of weapons of mass destruction, a felony of the second degree, and possessing explosive materials, a felony of the third degree.
A juvenile petition, similar to a criminal information in adult court, has been filed against the juvenile, whose name cannot be released under the Juvenile Act.
The juvenile also is charged with misdemeanor offenses.
Whitehall police began an investigation after a report of an incident on March 14.
Police went to the juvenile's residence and found a locked box in a shed.
The Allentown Fire Department was summoned and determined that the box contained cylinders that had gun powder and a fuse inside and a container of BB pellets.
The Whitehall police responded to these and other calls recently.

· A report of a fire summoned officers to the 2000 block of Arey Lane.
· Police conducted a drug investigation at Chuck E Cheese, 1000 Lehigh Valley Mall.
· Officers were called to the 900 block of Jordan Drive for a protection-from-abuse order.
· A report of a towed vehicle summoned police to Second Street.
· Officers assisted EMS in the 3000 block of South Fifth Street.
· A 911 hang-up called police to the 5300 block of Main Street.
· A report of suspicious activity brought officers to the 3100 block of Saint Stephens Lane.
· Police were called to the 4800 block of Main Street for an animal complaint.

· A report of a theft summoned police to Macy's, 300 Lehigh Valley Mall.
· Officers investigated a report of a disturbance at Walmart, 2601 MacArthur Road.
· Police assisted EMS in the 300 block of Hawthorn Lane.
· A report of hazardous conditions brought officers to Mickley Road.
· Police were called to the 3300 block of North Hobson Street for a report of a threat.
· Officers responded to a report of a wanted person in the 3600 block of Crescent Court East.
· A report of a sexual offense summoned police to the 5100 block of Stone Terrace Drive.

· A sounding alarm brought officers to the 1100 block of Catasauqua Road.
· Police were called to the unit block of Maryland Circle for a threat.
