Karly Sacco and six of her Weisenberg Elementary art students attended the Northwestern Lehigh School Board's March 18 meeting to be recognized for their artwork, now on display in the boardroom.
Sacco said second grade, as represented by Rachael Wade's work, was the result of a study of perspective using watercolor techniques.
Olivia Senavaitis, in third grade, learned how art is expressed in a partnership of arts and science.
A full moon project was colored with both brushes and Q-tips with a little glitter thrown in.
Monochromatic color was used by Eli Dellicker to create silhouettes and shadows.
Fourth grader Abby Pomajevich's work reflected the science of the solar system with warm colors from the sun and cool colors from the moon.
Emily Bennicoff, fifth grade, used stoneware clay to make an "adorable" fish, which was then painted with a glaze.
Emilia Blechschmidt, a fifth grader, made an under-the-sea bowl with shells pressed into the clay to leave their design. A starfish sits on the edge of the bowl.
Board member Paul Fisher told the students he is glad to have their art in the room as he gave each youngster a certificate of appreciation.
The art makes the boardroom beautiful, Superintendent Mary Anne Wright.
