WESTERN SALISBURY COLUMN Annual Easter egg hunt March 28
Salisbury Township will host its annual Easter egg hunt 10 a.m. March 28 at Lindberg Park.
Children must be between the ages of three and 10 and be accompanied by an adult. Parents are asked to submit a registration form to the township municipal building by March 25. The form can be found on the Salisbury Township website.
Western Salisbury Elementary School has been a Leader In Me School for over two years now. For parents new to the district or anyone who wants to know more about the program, WSE is holding a Leader In Me parent night to explain exactly what it means. The event will be led by art teacher Abby Kunkle and gifted teacher Kristy Wied.
Leader In Me is a program founded on the premise every child can be a leader and an offshoot of the book, "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People."
Report cards will be distributed at WSE March 24, which leads to parent/teacher conferences and early dismissal days. WSE will dismiss 1 p.m. March 26 through 31.
WSE's PTA will host a roller skating party 6 to 9 p.m. March 26 at the Whitehall Skate-Away.
All Salisbury Township schools will be in session April 1 and 2 as snow make-up days.
There will be a curriculum committee meeting 7 p.m. March 30 at WSE.
The Devonshire Drop-off will be open 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 21 and 24.
The Pennsylvania Association for Gifted Education affiliate for Salisbury is seeking parents of gifted students to become involved in the organization. PAGE advocates for gifted education with the Salisbury Township School District, educates parents by providing resources at bi-annual presentations, collaborates with school administrators and provides support for parents of gifted and high-achieving students. Qualifications to participate include a desire to continue the PAGE group at Salisbury to advocate for our children. Salisbury Middle School Prosper provides a framework for families by offering prevention programs to the district backed by Penn State.
The Strengthening Families Program for Parents and Youth 10-14 is the family-focused program offered for families with children ages 10 to 14.
All Stars is delivered in the seventh grade to help youth think about their future and how decisions made now will impact those goals.
Both are highly effective programs scientific research shows to have significant and long-lasting positive effects on youth.
The profits of the Market Day sales each month are used to fund the prevention programs for Salisbury students.
