Timing of light on Route 329 off

Allen Township Board of Supervisors discussed the timing of the traffic light at Route 329, Weaversville and Howertown roads, at its Feb. 12 meeting.

Supervisor Dale Hassler said he was recently on Weaversville Road and noticed the signal missed a few cycles.

"It skipped a cycle," Hassler said.

Jim Milot of Hanover Engineering said he inspected the traffic light timing changes, noting the issue did not occur when he was present.

The problem surfaced during 8 a.m. commuter traffic.

The intermittent detectors will be examined. Telco, a company that repairs traffic signals and auxiliary issues, has been contacted.

In other business, the township is considering changing park regulations involving the allowance of firearms at various sites.

Municipalities across the region received notice from a firearms advocacy group reporting on a state law passed late in 2014 easing the regulations.

Township Solicitor B. Lincoln Treadwell Jr. said he is examining the correspondence the township received concerning the matter but is not yet ready to bring it before the board for action.

Treadwell also reported on a proposed no parking ban that would restrict vehicle parking on roads near Catasauqua High School.

The board granted approval for an electronic recycling event Saturday, June 13, at the Allen Township Fire Company grounds, pending there are no scheduled events set at the fire company hall.

Treadwell also asked the board to meet in executive session regarding a property appraisal report, acknowledging the matter involves the township possibly acquiring private property.

The supervisors convened privately on two matters involving personnel policy and the procedures manual during the meeting.
