Asbury United Methodist Church, 1533 Springhouse Road, South Whitehall Township, will be having its seventh annual chili cookoff 5-8 p.m. March 14 .

More than 40 chefs will be competing for chili and salsa awards.

Professional chefs from the Allentown School District, Cactus Blue, Copperhead Grille, Red Robin, Super Subs and Texas Roadhouse will also be competing.

Youth teams from local schools, churches and organizations will be competing for the new Youth Team Award.

There will be face painting, family photos, balloon art by Brian Best as well as chili-wear aprons, oven mitts, caps, towels and laser engraved spoons for sale.

Chili Mountain is back to award those who take the challenge to taste all the chili.

With a free-will donation at the door, each family member will receive 10 tickets to vote for People's Choice chili and salsa awards.

Additional tickets will be available for purchase during the evening in the Wesley Center and Fellowship Hall.

Proceeds will help to refurbish and expand the playground for 900-plus students at Ramos Elementary School in the Allentown School District.
