Carl Joseph Huber
Carl Joseph Huber, 83, of Allentown, died peacefully Feb. 19, 2015, at Phoebe Home, Allentown. He was the husband of Carol Marie (Wolf) Huber. Born in Columbus, Wis., he was the son of the late Alois and Alice Huber.
He graduated from Wayland Academy in Beaver Dam, Wis. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and received his Bachelor of Science in agriculture in 1953.
He served in the U.S. Army as a lieutenant.
He worked as an assistant plant manager of whey, cheese and butter for Lake to Lake in Kiel and Denmark, Wis. While in Kiel, he was awarded the World Champion Cheesemaker Award in 1960. By the 1970s he was the plant manager for Morning Glory Dairies.
Throughout his career, he managed dairy plants in California, Kentucky and Pennsylvania. In Allentown, he was vice-president of production of Atlantic Processing at Lehigh Valley Dairies. He spent the last 10 years of his career working for the international dairy marketing group M.E. Franks of Wayne.
He was very active in community organizations through his life. From his days on the Kiel school board, to the Kiwanis, the Lions Club, the Knights of Columbus #528, and as a member of the Bishop Welsh Assembly #932.
He was a member of St. Thomas More parish, where he was part of Men of St. Thomas, the Prime Time Club and was a former Eucharist minister.
In his retirement, he volunteered for the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival and served as judge of elections for Salisbury Township (5th Ward).
He is survived by his wife; children, Daniel and his wife Cathy, of Combined Locks, Wis.; Nancy and her husband Donald Wietmarschen, of Zanesville, Ohio; Stephen and his wife Kitty, of Rockville, Md.; Thomas and his wife Gail, of Stanford, Ky.; and Carolyn, and her husband Richard Sautter, of Gettysburg; brother, Walter and his wife Wilma, of Winter Park, Fla.; sister, Mary, wife of the late James Barstow, of Beaver Dam, Wis.; sister-in-law, Charlene and her husband Neil Sitenga, of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; grandchildren, Gretchen, Erich, John, Megan, Laura, William, Devon and Daniel.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to St. Thomas More School, 1040 Flexer Ave., Allentown, 18103-5520.
