The Allen Township Board of Supervisors recently got a glimpse of a proposed bike lane.
Jim Milot of Hanover Engineering Company gave a PowerPoint presentation of the bicycle right-of-way at the commissioners' Feb. 12 meeting.
The bike layout and signage plan is designed for a 2,000-foot stretch over Willowbrook, Savage and West Bullshead roads.
There will be an abundance of signs designating the roads as bike lanes, such as "Share the Road" signs and pavement markings.
The road narrows in the area of a bridge on Willowbrook Road, near Bullshead Road.
Milot said the plan takes note of the road's contour, a 30- to 35-degree angle, which is included with the traffic lane.
With Northampton County's Wayne Grube Park off Willowbrook Road and Catasauqua High School nearby, the public is expected to utilize the bike lane.
The bike lane is also close to the Nor-Bath Trail, which crosses a section of the township, between Northampton and Bath.
Milot said the Borough of Northampton has been notified of the proposed bike lane.
