Bruce E. Thompson, 79, of Alburtis, died Feb. 15, 2015, at Lehigh Valley Hospital. He was the husband of Mary E. (Geisinger) Thompson. They celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary in April. Born in Emmaus, he was a son of the late Clarence F. and Arlene (Hinkle) Thompson.

He worked for PPL for 39 years, retiring in 1995. Since retiring, he worked for the Scott Auto Dealership.

He was a member and deacon of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Trexlertown. He was active in Boy Scouts and was a Scoutmaster of Troop #86 in Alburtis.

He served in the U.S. Navy.

He is survived by his wife; daughters, Sallie E. and her husband, Edward Kirsch; Eileen B. and her husband Blaine Hepner; brothers, Dale and his wife Geri; Lee; sister, Sandra and her husband Darwin "Jack" Leister; grandchildren, Kyle, Ellen, Brent and Blake.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the church, 1249 Trexlertown Road, Trexlertown, 18087.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Feb. 24, at the Schmoyer Funeral Home, 8926 Brookdale Road, Breinigsville. A calling hour will begin 10 a.m.
