William E. Birosik

William "Willy" E. Birosik, 89, of Northampton, died Jan. 23, 2015, in the Inpatient Unit at Lehigh Valley Hospice, Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. He was the husband of Nancy J. (Strohl) for 58 years.

Born in Northampton, he was a son of the late John and Mary (Pesta) Birosik.

He was in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict.

He worked at Plant 4 of the former Penn Dixie Cement Company until its closure. He worked in the maintenance departments of both the Northampton and Bethlehem Area school districts until he retired.

He was a member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, where he was an adult altar server and a member of the Young At Heart senior group.

He was a member of the Catholic War Veterans, Post 454, Northampton. He was a Fourth Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus, Council 4050, Northampton. He was a member of the Northampton Retired Men, First Ward Fire Company, Northampton Liederkrantz and St. Peter and Paul Hungarian Hall. He was a volunteer with Northampton Transportation for many years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Stephanie of Bethlehem; a son, William E. II and his wife Patti of Schuylkill Haven; three grandchildren, Sasha, Billy, and Sean and his wife Erin; three great-grandchildren, Aiden, Elizabeth and Lilly of Schuylkill Haven; and two brothers, Albert and Alfred, both of Northampton.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Edward and John; and two sisters, Anna and Cecilia.
