Katelyn Freeman of Weisenberg Township has received an appointment to the United States Military Academy, West Point, for the class of 2019.
She was nominated to the position by Congressman Charlie Dent, R-15th.
Freeman currently attends The Hill School, a college preparatory boarding school, in Pottstown. She previously attended Northwestern Lehigh High School.
Currently at the top of her class, Freeman was awarded Best General Record within her class, in addition to All-American Scholar.
Other recognitions include:Varsity Field Hockey (captaining her team to a league championship), Varsity Softball, Head of Tour at Hill's admissions office, president of the Stock Club, captain of Eco-Action Club, state finalist in DECA, Student Prefect, and volunteer firefighter with the Weisenberg Township Volunteer Fire Department.
Freeman will report to West Point in late spring of this year.
She is the daughter of Scott and Elizabeth Freeman.
