Ed Foundation announces names of 2015 inductees
The Parkland School District Education Foundation has announced the fourth class of inductees who will don the Distinguished Alumni Wall of Honor inside the main entrance of Parkland High School.
The 2015 Distinguished Alumni Wall of Honor Inductees include: Donna Katcher (1976) and Dawn Spence (1984), Sisters and Co-Founders of Donna's Dugout to Support ALS; Curtis E. Schneck (1951), Custom Home Builder and Developer; Jason Toff (2004), Head of Vine, Co-Founder of PALS at Parkland High School; and Ken Zellner (1963), Educator, 47-Year Career with Parkland School District and Kutztown University.
Kris Siessmayer, foundation executive director, commented on the new inductees.
"The people on the wall serve as an inspiration to all students to achieve excellence and remind our entire community of Parkland's commitment to a quality educational program," Siessmayer said. "We congratulate them all on this wonderful recognition."
Inductees will be honored at the foundation's fourth annual gala and silent auction May 4 at the Holiday Inn Conference Center.
In September, the Parkland community was invited to nominate inductees into the Alumni Wall of Honor.
Nominees are evaluated on the following criteria: accomplishments in his or her chosen career, volunteer work or acts of service, a positive impact on people or contributions to others, and special recognition or awards.
A selection committee comprised of one member from the Parkland Education Foundation Board, the school district's administration, a seasoned Parkland teacher, a gala committee volunteer, a school board director, and a member from the local business community reviewed the applications and scored them using a rubric.
The finalists were then approved by the foundation board of directors.
