Stephen J. Hayden, 89, of Emmaus, died peacefully at home Feb. 1, 2015. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Stephen and Mary (Kozar) Hajdinyak. He was the husband of Eleanor J. (Roth) Hayden. They enjoyed 64 years of marriage.
He held the rank of tech sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He proudly served as a radio operator of the B-17 during 30 missions in the European Theater.
He attended Lehigh University and earned a civil engineering degree. He was employed at Keystone Cement Co. in Bath for 34 years, retiring as president in 1988.
He enjoyed many years of fishing in Canada as well as walking the beach at the Jersey Shore.
He is survived by his wife; son, Stephen, Jr. and his wife, Patricia, of Macungie; sister-in-law, Anna Hajdinyak; numerous nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews and his in-laws. He was predeceased by sisters, Anna Horvath and Helen Rieger and a brother, John Hajdinyak.
Arrangements were made by the Connell Funeral Home, Bethlehem.
