Joan W. Gaylor, 88, of Allentown, died peacefully surrounded by her family Jan. 28, 2015, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. She was the wife of Donald H. Gaylor, M.D. for the past 66 years. Born in Buffalo, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Harry W. and Florence (Sieck) Power.
She graduated from the University of Rochester Strong Memorial Hospital Nursing School. She later received a Bachelor of Science in nursing and a Master of Education from Temple University.
She was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Allentown and belonged to the Serra Club.
She was a devoted wife and mother and enjoyed gardening, wildlife, her cats and crossword puzzles. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren made her day.
She is survived by her husband; daughter Susan and her husband Mark Snyder; sons, Christopher and his wife, Christine, Steven and his wife, Jeannie, Timothy and his wife, Diana; brother, Harry Power and his wife Dee; sister, Lois Schubert; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, David.
