Northampton hopes to start work on former Tama building.
The Northampton Borough Council wants to move forward and convert the plant on Main Street into apartments this year.
Borough Manager Gene Zarayko said plans could be in the works, but did not reveal specifics at the Jan. 29 meeting.
The New Jersey developer pledged the project would not harm the community, but instead will be an upscale apartment complex.
The condominiums, approved earlier by the borough, would be located off 21st Street.
In other news, the Northampton Auto Parts store is undergoing renovations, reportedly a health care business is slated to open at the location.
