Contest

The League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania is inviting high school students to "Get in the Game" by producing a 30-second video demonstrating and encouraging the importance of participation in the democratic process.

The theme is "Get in the Game (Democracy is not a spectator sport)."

Contestants must be at least 13 years old but no older than 19.

Deadline to submit entries is midnight, March 1. Winners will be announced April 1.

The top entry will receive $1,000; $500 second prize; $250 third prize; and $250 for the media center of the high school with most submissions.

Judges for the contest represent an array of professionals from across Pennsylvania.

Judges include: Susan Carty, LWVPA president; Donna Cooper, executive director, Public Citizens for Children and Youth; state Sen. Mike Folmer, R-48th; Darby Hughes, Pavone Agency, brand strategist for Quench; state Rep. Patty Kim, D-103rd; Tony May, partner, Triad Strategies; Mary Jude Szymanski, president, MJS Productions Inc., Michael Young, senior vice president and Pittsburgh Market Manager CBS Radio Pittsburgh; NewsRadio 1020 KDKA, KDKA-FM/93.7 The Fan, WDSY-FM, AND WBZZ-FM and Chairman of Pensylvania Association of Broadcasters.
