Russell K. Sterner

Russell K. Sterner, 92, of Macungie, died Jan. 30, 2015, in Phoebe Home. He was the husband of Betty M. (Seislove) Sterner. Born in Dillingersville, he was the son of the late Alvin H. and Alice (Weller) Sterner.

He was a truck driver for A.H. Sterner Trucking, East Penn Foundry for 40 years. He worked for Tyler Pipe, Daniel's Motor Freight, Ohio, for eight years and Associated Transport, Inc., Burlington, N.C. for 20 years.

He was a member of The Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, Emmaus.

He honorably served his country in the Army during World War II in North Africa, Sicily and Italy. He was a life member of Macungie VFW Post 9264 and the Military Order of the Purple Heart. He was a member of Emmaus Lodge #792 F&AM.

He was an avid Flyers and Nascar fan.

He is survived by his wife; daughters, Sandy and her husband William Schultz, of Scottsdale, Ariz., Brenda, wife of the late Steve Welling, of Marblehead, Mass., and Debra Padrone, of Macungie; brother, Alvin Jr.; sister, Lillian; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Ralph.

Funeral and Masonic services will be held 11 a.m. Feb. 4 in the Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., 250 Main St., Emmaus. A viewing will be 9:30 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
